TULSA, Okla. — Ahead of Oklahoma’s execution of death-row inmate James Allen Coddington Aug. 25, the Diocese of Tulsa joined calls by a coalition of faith leaders and others for the Oklahoma governor to commute his death sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Lara Schuler is the Senior Director of Catholic Education for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. This position serves as the superintendent for Catholic Schools and educational outreach to the homeschool community in the archdiocese. She is relative newcomer to the archdiocese and to Oklahoma City, having relocated in October of 2021 and coming from the Diocese of Nashville. She is certified in Educational Leadership K-12. Graduate work was completed at Samford University in Homewood, AL where she earned a MS in Educational Leadership. She is also a graduate of Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO where she earned a BS in Communications with a minor in Corporate Communications and Training. She completed the A+ Teachers Alternative Certification Program in Houston, TX, and is Certified in Dyslexia Intervention. Lara is an avid learner and doctoral work is soon to be in her future. She has been teaching and leading in Catholic Schools since 1993 in Alabama, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, and now Oklahoma. In addition to teaching in a Catholic school, she also volunteered and taught many years in parish religious education programs in the evenings or on the weekends. She and Bill have been married 32 years and they have one son, Anthony, who lives in the Dallas area. Lara enjoys art museums, reading, painting, decorating, and the thrill of the hunt that comes from finding a treasure at a flea market or antique store.
