Archbishop Paul Coakley broke ground Sunday, Nov. 3, for the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine in south Oklahoma City. He was joined by Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, Archbishop Emeritus Eusebius Beltran, Tulsa Bishop David Konderla, Little Rock Bishop Anthony Taylor, Abbot Lawrence Stasyszen and nearly 2,000 priests, deacons and lay faithful.

For many years, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City was divided into nine regions. Each region had a vicar, appointed by the archbishop. Recently, with the assistance of the Priests Council, Archbishop Coakley reorganized the archdiocese using terminology found in Canon Law.
Archbishop Paul Coakley on Friday officially signed the contract with The Boldt Company of Oklahoma City to build the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine. The signing comes two months before the groundbreaking ceremony, which will be on Sunday, Nov. 3.
We are encouraged by Oklahoma’s leaders who, over the past 46 years since the dreadful Roe v. Wade court decision, have consistently voted to regulate the practice of abortion and reduce the number of incidents in our state. This legislative session, however, poses a predicament for those of us in favor of life with the introduction of Senate Bill 13. The bill, which purports to “abolish abortion,” may in practice actually expand it.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Archbishop Paul Coakley on Sunday announced the removal of Father James Mickus from ministry pending investigation of an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor. Father Mickus serves as pastor of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Chandler and Saint Louis Catholic Church in Stroud. Archbishop Coakley informed parishioners in person Sunday morning.
In a letter dated Sept. 19, 2018, Archbishop Coakley withdrew the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City from the Oklahoma Conference of Churches, stating "I have been concerned in recent months by a change of tone within the day-to-day leadership of the organization."
