Q: What is a Eucharistic procession?
A: The Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life. A Eucharistic procession is a public witness of the adoration of the holy Eucharist, conducted through public streets. A consecrated host – the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ – is placed within a monstrance. It is lifted and carried by a priest who leads the faithful in procession. Like a pilgrimage, a Eucharistic procession normally starts at one holy place and ends at another. This earthly journey reminds the Catholic faithful of their spiritual journey toward eternal life.

R: La Eucaristía es fuente y cumbre de la vida cristiana. Una procesión Eucarística es un testimonio público de la adoración de la Sagrada Eucaristía, realizada por la vía pública. Una hostia consagrada (el cuerpo, la sangre, el alma y la divinidad de Jesucristo) se coloca dentro de una custodia. Es levantada y portada por un sacerdote que encabeza a los fieles en procesión. Al igual que una peregrinación, una procesión Eucarística normalmente comienza en un lugar santo y termina en otro. Este viaje terrenal recuerda a los fieles católicos su viaje espiritual hacia la vida eterna.
