Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
“Blessed Are They” is rooted in the well-known refrain of the Beatitudes and aptly serves as the theme for the 2022 Annual Catholic Appeal. As familiar as the words might be, I think it’s important to recognize their significance.
“They” is really each one of us. We each hunger and thirst for righteousness; mourn for people and opportunities lost to us; and understand deep in our hearts that we cannot do it all by ourselves. Only by God’s grace are we satisfied, comforted and welcomed with love into His Kingdom.
At the same time, “they” is all of us together. United as an archdiocesan family, we share a purpose: to provide for one another as we hunger and thirst for spirituality, peace, mercy, forgiveness and comfort. As we share of ourselves for others, we also share in God’s blessings!
The Annual Catholic Appeal is an important way for us to share with others.
Your financial support of the appeal provides for the many critical shared ministries of the Church throughout central and western Oklahoma. It funds programs and outreach for:
Formation of Permanent Deacons to serve parishes
Caring for Retired Priests
Marriage & Family Life, and
Service to all Parishes.
Please consider making a monthly gift to the appeal so the shared ministries of the Church can have a predictable level of support and continue their important work. Join me in this mission of loving service to God and neighbor by making a monthly gift today.
I am incredibly grateful for your generosity to your parish and the archdiocese and am fortunate to serve as your archbishop. The continuous acts of faith, compassion and mercy that I witness each day inspire me in my own faith. Thank you!
Please be assured of my prayers for you and your family.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Rev. Paul S. Coakley
Archbishop of Oklahoma City
