Seven graduates of Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School were inducted into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020. The induction ceremony was Jan. 17.
The inductees were Lauren Connelly Creevey, Whitney Cloer, Michele Hain Pappas, J. Robert Merritt, Steven Perry, Ryan Randolph and Morgan Roy. Whitney Cloer will be honored this fall.
Lauren Connelly Creevey (2002) finished her tennis career at BMCHS with a 76-0 record. In 1999, 2000 and 2001 she was the No. 2 Singles State Champion and then in 2002 the No. 1 Singles State Champion. Creevey is a three-time Oklahoman’s All-City Girls Tennis Player of the Year, and the 2002 Jim Thorpe Player of the Year. She went on to play tennis at the University of Notre Dame.
Michele Hain Pappas (1977) was a three-time State Diving Champion. In 1974, she was voted Oklahoma’s Amateur Athlete of the Year. Pappas was a member of the U.S. Diving National Team from 1978 to 1982. She also was a member of the 1988 World Masters Champion on the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards.
J. Robert Merritt (2001) was a member of four state championship basketball teams with a combined record of 103-14. During his junior and senior years, he was named to the All-City and All-State lists. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the state tournament his senior year. Merritt went on to play at Samford University.
Steven Perry (2007) is a four-time team state champion in soccer, track and football. In 2007, he set the state-record of 40 goals and was the State High Jump Champion – which earned him All-State honors in both soccer and track. Perry was named the 2007 Jim Thorpe Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He went on to play soccer at the University of Notre Dame.
Ryan Randolph (2009) played football, basketball and tennis during his high school career. The Irish won two state championships during his time as the starting quarterback – with a 25-3 record. Randolph was a member of three basketball state championship teams. In 2009, he was the Tennis Doubles State Runner-Up.
Morgan Roy (2009) played volleyball, basketball and soccer, and ran cross country and track, earning 17 varsity letters and volleyball and soccer All-State in 2009. During her junior year, she was a member of the soccer and track state championship teams. Roy was voted to the State Volleyball All-Tournament Team three times. She went on to play volleyball at the University of Central Oklahoma.
