August 11, 2021Blessed Stanley Rother, an alumnus of Conception Seminary, a priest ordained for the Diocese of Oklahoma City and Tulsa in 1963, a missionary to Guatemala, a pastor and a martyr, has been added to the saints on the proper calendar of the Diocese of Kansas City-Saint Joseph.
Bishop James Johnston petitioned the Vatican’s Congregation for Divine Worship with the request, and received the approval this year. They will celebrate on his feast day – July 28.
The diocese is the first one outside of the Oklahoma City province and the Diocese of Sololá to receive permission to celebrate Bl. Stanley’s feast day. The province includes the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, the Diocese of Tulsa and the Diocese of Little Rock.
