On Nov. 15, more than 100 Christ the King Catholic School alumni attended an open house and reminisced with classmates and faculty and toured the school in conjunction with the Oklahoma City school’s 75th anniversary.
The following night nearly 800 guests, including parishioners, school patrons, alumni and clergy, attended an auction and gala at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. The evening included a seated dinner, dancing and a live auction. Proceeds from the gala will benefit both the school and the church.
On Passion Sunday 1949, Bishop Eugene J. McGuinness broke ground for a new Catholic parish in northwest Oklahoma City. The school opened in fall 1949 with 72 students in kindergarten through fourth grade and 125 registered families at Christ the King.
In 2024, there are 529 students enrolled in preschool through eighth grade and more than 5,500 registered parishioners.
The milestone year concluded with a celebration of their patron saint, Christ the King, on Nov. 23.
