Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 1616 N. Kelley Ave. in Oklahoma City, will be hosting an old fashion-style tent revival Oct. 27-29 on the church grounds. The theme will be “I Have Decided To Follow Jesus,” and the featured evangelist is Father Anthony Bozeman, director of education at Saint Joseph’s Seminary in Washington, D.C. He is known for his motivating and charismatic style and is a frequent speaker at National Black Catholic Congress conferences.
The three-day revival will include a music workshop and an Info Fair & Health Expo, both open to community members of all faiths. On Oct. 27 and 28, the revival begins with praise and worship music at 6 p.m. On Oct. 29 adult Bible study starts at 9:30 a.m. in the church’s Lange Center with Rosary at 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11 a.m. under the tent. Father Bozeman will be the main celebrant at all three revival events.
Leading the music workshop will be one of the preeminent African American Catholic liturgists and musicians in the U.S., Rawn Harbor, who travels the country as a liturgist, musician and lecturer. The workshop will start at Noon on Friday, Oct. 27, in the church sanctuary. There is no cost to participate but an RSVP to [email protected] is required.
Corpus Christi Catholic Church Deacon and Revival Co-Chair Dunn Cumby said, “We are excited to have both Father Bozeman and Rawn Harbor come to Oklahoma City to rejuvenate our spirts and strengthen our faith by sharing their gifts. Plus, the parish wants to reach out to community members surrounding our church by giving back to our neighbors by hosting an Info Fair & Health Expo.”
On Saturday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Corpus Christi Catholic Church is partnering with a variety of service providers and exhibitors to give away free items and services plus information on community resources. The event will take place near the tent on the church grounds. At noon the church will give away free box lunches while supply lasts. In addition, parish members are donating socks, gloves, knit caps and underwear to be given to needy adults.
Community Health Centers of Oklahoma City will offer at no cost COVID vaccines, flu vaccines, behavior health screenings, blood pressure screenings, cholesterol screenings and basic dental screenings and treatments. Dental services will require advance registration with details coming soon.
