Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Del City celebrated the feast of Saint Paul the Apostle on Jan. 23 in the church’s parish hall. The event included Mexican folkloric dancers from Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lawton and Filipino dancers.
“We celebrate the feast of Saint Paul as the patron saint of our church every year,” said Father Joseph Sundar Raju Pudota, pastor of Saint Paul.
“We have this feast so we can thank God for all the blessings we have received through the intersession of Saint Paul. He is a very good inspiration in his missionary work. Being a persecutor, he becomes an Apostle of Christ, and our parish needs to take him as an inspiration, so we can continue the missionary work of Saint Paul through our parish activities.”
Father Pudota added that during the celebration each year, the church hosts cultural activities such as Filipino dances and Indian dances from India. The event was organized by the parish council, the youth and volunteers.
“This should give us the inspiration to continue in the spirit of Saint Paul. We are very happy to have Saint Paul as our patron saint because he was a great missionary, and he was a great preacher who dedicated and sacrificed his life for Christ, who he was persecuting,” Father Pudota said.
Paul of Tarsus, also known as Saint Paul, was a Messianic Jewish-Roman, Turkish writer and rabbi. He wrote the Pauline Epistles in the New Testament. It is believed that he wrote 13 books of the Bible, all of which are letters to churches and Christians, encouraging them, helping them to understand Christian teaching and helping them to live Christian lives.
Saint Paul the Apostle Church donated $500 to the seminarians in honor of the Mexican folkloric dancers at the request of Coordinator Chila Chavez.
