Early on in the pandemic, Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City donated hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes to SSM Health Saint Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City to meet the hospital’s desperate need. The donation was made after in-person school was suspended.
To repay the generosity, the hospital donated 1,200 face shields in August for teachers, administrators and staff members at each archdiocesan Catholic school. The face shields were made by the Ford Motor Company.
“The SSM Health Saint Anthony mission is to reveal God’s healing presence through caring for others. This year, we have had a number of challenges to meet with evolving needs during the pandemic,” said Joe Hodges, regional president for SSM Health Oklahoma.
“Local Catholic schools stepped forward with much-needed supplies that helped our Saints in Action care for our community, and we won’t soon forget their generosity. We hope these face shields will help teachers stay safe and feel more secure as they return to the classroom this fall.”
