Nestled in the small, quaint town of Madill stands Holy Cross Catholic Church, now the new and improved Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Archbishop Paul Coakley blessed a new chapel and office complex in early July. The chapel, dedicated to the memory of Blessed Stanley Rother, can house up to 90 people and is used for daily Masses, adoration and meetings with Father Raul Sanchez Castro.
Eucharistic Adoration is available every Tuesday and Thursday evening until midnight. In addition, there is also Adoration from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays.
The building complex took a little over three years to complete. In addition to the chapel, there is offices and a conference center for meetings.
“It was a great joy for all of us, the parish of Holy Cross, that Archbishop Coakley had consecrated the chapel that was built inside the building of the new offices,” Father Sanchez said. “It was a very emotional celebration. It took about three years of construction, thanks to the financial contribution of the entire community
The project began under the the previous parish priest, Father Oby Zunmas.
“We thank God for the effort of Father Oby,” said Father Sanchez, “who together with the community were able to carry out this new building, which was finished with dedication and effort.”
The parishioners of the parish have been appreciative of the new facilities.
“I am so thankful to God for the new buildings that have been built for the community,” Lourdes Duran said. We now have offices and staff available for any needs or questions. We have had many changes for the better in the growing community. Thank you to Archbishop Coakley for taking the time to come and consecrate all our church buildings.”
Said Lourdes Salinas: “I am very happy with the new chapel, as we have many activities such as the celebration of Mass, the exposition of sanctity during the week and the faith formation lectures on Tuesdays in the conference room.”
