At a recent Mass, Archbishop Coakley thanked the past leadership team of the Oklahoma Catholic Women’s Conference for their years of service and welcomed new officers.
“We recognize these women who, for so many years, have dedicated themselves to preparing, planning and delivering this wonderful conference we have been privileged to have in the archdiocese. Ladies, thank you for your leadership of many years and bringing forward this beautiful women’s conference and good foundation that you have laid. God bless you,” Archbishop Coakley said.
The mission of the Oklahoma Catholic Women's Conference is to provide an annual event for Catholic women of Oklahoma. The goal is to provide more knowledge of their Catholic faith as well as encourage them to receive the many graces available through frequent reception of the Sacraments and the study of Sacred Scripture.
During Mass, Meg Beckman, OCWC chairwoman, called forward Michelle Schaefer, Theresa Hurt and Joanne Cromer and presented each a bouquet of flowers and thanked them “for their amazing and beautiful work they have done with this ministry.”
In addition to Beckman, the new conference committee includes Stephanie Stovall, formation committee lead, Laura Murray, hospitality committee lead, and Natalie Mollman, promotion committee lead. The new team is preparing an updated website and organizing the 2021 conference titled “Behold” set for Feb. 27, at the Embassy Suites in Norman. The conference will feature keynote speaker Kimberly Hahn, Catholic author and wife of Scott Hahn.
Beckman said the conference allows “women to come to know the Lord in a deeper way as well as their Catholic faith and to share their love for God and their Catholic faith together as women. Women should say ‘yes’ to God and ‘yes’ to spending time on themselves to help them grow in their faith, spend time with other women, to help them come to know who they are in the light of God’s love for them.”
