May 6, 2021Catholic War Veterans Memorial Post #168 recognized Vietnam veterans during a ceremony April 14 at the Dignity Memorial Family Reception Center in Del City.
Non-post members recognized were Gilbert Gibson, Jess Thomas and John P. Hayes. Post member Bobbie L. Dean also was recognized for service. They were given a special lapel pin and a pin representing the branch of service in which they served. Thomas was pinned by his wife Carol and Hayes was pinned by his wife Bernadette.
An additional ceremony will be held May 12 at the Catholic War Veteran’s meeting. All U.S. vets who served on active duty from Nov. 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, regardless of location can be awarded a lapel pin. Pins are provided by the U.S. Vietnam War Commemoration Commission.
