The Information Technology department at the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City exists to make ministry more effective, more efficient, and more easily accomplished.

For Parishes: If you suspect that you may be a victim of cybercrime, please contact the IT office at 405-721-5651 x767 (SOS) as soon as possible, 24/7/365.
If an IT staff member does not answer your call, please leave a message stating the following:

• Your Name
• Your Parish, School, Other Entity
• Your Callback Number (if different than the number you called)
• A brief description of what is happening (ransomware, e-mail account compromise, successful phishing attempt, etc.). 

All IT staff will receive an email after your voicemail is left and we will get back to you as soon as possible. 

Cybercrime attempts are increasing throughout the archdiocese.  

We are currently investigating ways to help our parishes, schools and other entities prevent cybercrime in the future.  

Everyone can help avoid falling victim to scams by paying attention to a few common red flags:
 

• Check the e-mail address. The name may look like someone you know, but when you hover over the name with the cursor, the e-mail address is not correct or odd;
• Scam e-mails and texts often have misspelled words;
• They often include a sense of urgency;
• The most common scams involve a request for you to purchase gift cards to provide the gift card numbers to the scammers;
• They can include a request for a wire or ACH transfer. Please know the archdiocese will never request funds be distributed through a wire or ACH transfer;
• Fraudulent e-mail and text messages often have links from unknown senders or from unknown or unexpected websites;
• If you are unsure, do not click on the link or respond to the e-mail/text. Call a number you know is legitimate (i.e. from the archdiocesan, parish or school directories) and ask.
