Archbishop Coakley’s statement on the execution of Benjamin Cole

"The death penalty does little to heal the wounds of grief and loss, and as a state that supports the sanctity of human life for the unborn, we need to continue to build a society that chooses life in all situations. We must stop the cycle of violence and end the use of the death penalty. This barbaric practice is an outdated method of punishment that is plagued with errors and controversy. Please join me in praying for Brianna Cole, the soul of Benjamin Cole, their families, and for the corrections staff involved in carrying out the execution."
