This is part of a series to introduce the seminarians of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City.
What is your home parish? My home parish is Saint Damien of Molokai in Edmond.
What seminary do you attend? I attend Saint John Vianney Theological Seminary in Denver.
If it is God’s will, what year will you be ordained a priest? If it is God’s will, I will be ordained in 2021.
What advice would you give to someone discerning a call to the priesthood? My advice would be to pray, frequent confession and worthy reception of Holy Communion, meet with a spiritual director, don’t let fear dictate your decisions concerning seminary/priesthood and prayerfully commit and persevere.
What do you look forward to most about becoming a priest? I look forward to spending a few hours every day in the confessional.
Name one thing that every Catholic needs to know. Everyone needs to know the Lord loves every single person despite our sinfulness and ingratitude. As beloved sons and daughters of God, we ought to respond in love and gratitude.
Why choose a life of sacrificial love? I don’t think priesthood is something “chosen” as one would in deciding a career path. Yes, there is a certain amount of prudential decisions made along the way, but as with any vocation, it’s not so much we who have chosen the Lord as it is he who has chosen us. I’m “choosing” to listen to the Lord’s voice, to conform my heart to his and lay down my life for the salvation of souls.
