Middle school students across the state of Oklahoma and beyond are invited to a new middle school event. Holy Fire OKC, hosted by the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the producers of NCYC, the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, in partnership with Equipping the Saints, will include: performances by Catholic musicians DJ Staël and PJ Anderson, keynote talks by Noelle Garcia, a Catholic recording artist and speaker, opportunities to receive the sacrament of reconciliation and attend adoration and Mass celebrated by Father Zachary Boazman.
The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at the Rose State College Hudiburg Chevrolet Center in Midwest City. Cost is $45 per student. An optional Chick-fil-a lunch is available for purchase or students may bring their own lunch.
Individual or group registrations are available. Advanced registration is required.
Jayce Palmer, director of youth, young adult and campus ministry for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, shared his vision for the middle school participants.
“Holy Fire is an opportunity for middle school students to experience the universal Church by coming together from all over the archdiocese to participate,” said Palmer. “My hope is for the middle schoolers to recognize that they are an important part of making disciples in the archdiocese, they are loved by Christ and surrounded by a community that loves them and will encourage them to go into the deep in their own faith life.”
“At Holy Fire, there is a huge opportunity for middle school youth and their Catholic peers to come together to worship Jesus and experience him in the Eucharist as a community,” added Katie Murphree, associate director of children’s evangelization and catechesis. “It is such a great opportunity for parish youth programs to be energized and set on fire for their faith.”
