Mount Saint Mary Catholic High School’s annual Week of Giving held April 26-30 set a record with 245 donors contributing $239,178 to the school’s Mount Fund. The Mount Fund supports operations of the school, including tuition assistance, school programs and school projects.
“We always have had success raising money by placing our full attention on a challenge over a short time frame. Our promotion of the week, our efforts during the week and our stewardship when the week was over were all critical components to success,” said Chris Stiles, director of advancement.
The highlight of the effort was the student phone-a-thon. Thirty students participated along with volunteers from the Mount Fund Leadership Team, fostering awareness, personally connecting with donors and establishing momentum for the week.
In addition to the $239,178 raised for The Mount Fund, the week was a catalyst for additional giving to the school.
“We received a major gift for our wonderful drama department, an additional $45,000 to complete the chapel remodeling project, endowment gifts adding to the sustainably of our school and a planned gift from the estate of Charles and Lola Tippit Wilmes. Lola was a 1949 graduate of The Mount whose legacy will always be honored and remembered forever,” Stiles said.
