Mount Saint Mary Catholic High School recently developed the Diplomas of Distinction program to enable students to better focus elective choices. The program allows students to focus on their interests and aspirations for college and future careers as well as missionary discipleship.
Students take eight courses a semester for a total of 32 credits, which allows opportunities to learn beyond standard core curriculum. The 10 Diploma of Distinction curricular pathways range from servant leadership to business and technology; from renaissance thinker to engineering.
Students who elect to earn a Diploma of Distinction also take all the normal core theology, math, science, English and social studies courses.
As a final capstone, students who are earning a Diploma of Distinction are required to give a Ted Talk-style presentation about a product or idea they created in the program.
