O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society to sponsor Mass on March 17
OKLAHOMA CITY – Saint Patrick Catholic Church will celebrate its patron saint, Saint Patrick, beginning with festive parish receptions following the weekend masses at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 12; at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 13; at Noon on Sunday, March 13 (Spanish); and highlighting the week with a special Saint Patrick’s Day Mass at 10 a.m. on March 17, in partnership with the O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society.
Father Joseph Arledge of Saint Patrick Catholic Church said, “This is my first Saint Patrick’s Day at our parish and I’m of Irish descent myself, so I am really looking forward to celebrating this special Mass with our church family and community.”
The O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society will sponsor the Saint Patrick’s Day Mass, which will feature Irish hymns and a bagpiper to honor the missionary work of Saint Patrick in Ireland. A parish potluck luncheon will follow the celebratory mass in the Fellowship Hall at Saint Patrick Catholic Church.
“Every year, we look forward to the opportunity to celebrate Mass at Saint Patrick Catholic Church on Saint Patrick’s Day,” said Tim O’Connor, member of the O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society.
The O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society is a group of people that hope to further and preserve Ireland’s rich cultural heritage in Oklahoma. Every year, the O’klahoma Irish Heritage Society participates in and supports Irish cultural events in Oklahoma City and promotes an annual parade in historic Stockyards City.
