July 30, 2020The Sooner Catholic received two awards from the Catholic Press Association during the 2020 Catholic Media Conference held virtually July 2.
In the Best Front Page – Broadsheet category, the Sooner Catholic won Honorable Mention for the Jan. 27, 2019, front page designed by Managing Editor Dana Attocknie. The page featured Archbishop Coakley’s new pastoral letter, Rose Day and the legacy and retirement of Sr. Catherine Powers.
In the Best Photograph – General News Photo category, the Sooner Catholic won Honorable Mention for a photograph of a Fancy Shawl dancer by freelance photographer Chris Porter. The photograph was taken at the 2019 Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Honor Dance.
The Sooner Catholic, the official newspaper for the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, has received multiple awards in recent years. Because of its circulation, the newspaper is in the same category as the largest cities and Catholic newspapers in the country. Diane Clay serves as editor.
