Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church held a Totus Tuus week for kids the week of July 9-14 in Lawton.
There were 40 students who attended, and they had a week filled with fun learning activities to teach them about the importance of living their faith.
“Totus Tuus means totally yours, and we are focusing on teaching the kids that we are totally Gods while emphasizing and learning the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary,” said Rachel Jackson, the team leader for the Totus Tuus team for the Tulsa and Oklahoma City dioceses.
“We are teaching salvation history by exposing them to the covenants and focusing on how our story is a relationship with God and our faith is not only a series of rules but it’s so much more because it is a love story about God pursuing us throughout history,” said Jackson.
On July 12, the parish held a potluck to bring the Totus Tuus families and parishioners together for fellowship. The Catholic Daughters Court Saint Jude oversaw the potluck, and an array of dishes were spread in a smorgasbord for everyone to enjoy.
Jackson added that the missionaries had had a busy summer going to parishes throughout the state for Totus Tuus.
“We have had as many as 150 kids and as few as 20 kids. All of the weeks have been very unique and all very beautiful,” said Jackson.
Jackson also asked all to keep them in prayer.
“Please pray for all missionaries and for everybody doing God’s work, and pray for the youth of our faith, pray for revival and for those who are willing to share the truth, whether or not it is popular,” said Jackson.
The week ended with an afternoon of water fun for all the participants.
