WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2019, passed by the House Dec. 11 with a 260-165 bipartisan vote, aims "to make a better system for both the farmer and the farmworkers and to create a more effective and humane agriculture industry," said the chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development.

INDIANAPOLIS – More than 20,000 teenagers and their mentors attended the National Catholic Youth Conference in November at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana. The conference occurs every two years and is produced by the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry. This year’s conference theme was “Blessed, Broken, Given.”

This past year, my wife and I have had the gift of leading a discipleship group at our parish; 12 teenagers who we meet with every week. We have been reading C.S. Lewis books together the past semester and taking time to discuss them when we meet. It has been incredible watching these young people grow spiritually and come alive in our weekly discussions. I’m always amazed at the deep capacity young people have for growing in their faith.
The first edition of this title was edited by Father Leonard Foley, O.F.M., and published in 1975. He subsequently edited the second and third editions. The fourth through the current eighth editions were edited and revised by Father Pat McCloskey, O.F.M. These editors wrote some of the entries, but they had help from various authors connected with the Franciscan Order and Franciscan Media.
There is a subtle, yet insistent, refrain that echoes through the Mass readings during this Advent season: Hope is coming. In a time when we have seen a great deal of bad news, it is important to remember the Good News of the Gospel.
