Since 1885, in the community of Krebs, Oklahoma, Saint Joseph Catholic Church has continued to be a beacon of faith in this small mining town. Archbishop Fernández is no Joseph Ratzinger in either theological heft (a point Fernández himself implicitly acknowledged in one of his post-appointment interviews) or in his relationship to the pope he will serve.
Archbishop Coakley will celebrate a Native American Mass at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Bl. Stanley Rother Shrine, 700 S.E. 89 St. in Oklahoma City. The Mass is sponsored by the American Indian Catholic Outreach office.
