El 28 de agosto celebramos la festividad de uno de los santos más intrigantes y conocidos del calendario: San Agustín; fruto de la Iglesia del siglo IV. 

On Aug. 28 we celebrate the feast day of one of the most intriguing and well-known saints on the calendar: Saint Augustine; a product of the Church of the 4th century. 

“Pope Francis has just given the Vatican his Ratzinger,” declared one July 2 headline; “Pope Francis Finds His Ratzinger,” announced another, four days later. Both quickie assessments of Argentinian Archbishop Victor Manuel Fernández’s appointment as prefect of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith were wrong. Archbishop Fernández is no Joseph Ratzinger in either theological heft (a point Fernández himself implicitly acknowledged in one of his post-appointment interviews) or in his relationship to the pope he will serve. 

Archbishop Coakley will celebrate a Native American Mass at 3 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Bl. Stanley Rother Shrine, 700 S.E. 89 St. in Oklahoma City. The Mass is sponsored by the American Indian Catholic Outreach office.

En la cima del monte Tabor, en Tierra Santa, se encuentra la Basílica de la Transfiguración, que fue construida en el sitio tradicional del misterio que la Iglesia celebra el 6 de agosto de cada año.  Fue diseñada en 1924 por el arquitecto italiano del siglo XX Antonio Barluzzi.

Atop Mount Tabor, in the Holy Land, stands the Church of the Transfiguration – built on the traditional site of the mystery the Church celebrates each year on Aug. 6. It was designed by Twentieth-Century Italian architect Antonio Barluzzi in 1924.
