Our dream is that no woman would feel that she has to choose between supporting her family and abortion, getting an education or having an abortion, advancing in her career or having an abortion. We are working hard in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City to support women and families so that abortion as a choice would be taken off the table.
While universities and companies are investing in birth control and abortion options for their students and employees, the Church is working to invest in healthcare and encourage our society to prioritize women and families, work with their schedules, provide living wages and maternity leave, provide afforable healthcare, and support education.
We have sponsored NaProTechnology training for one doctor and are seeking to sponsor training for other doctors. NaProTechnology works with women to help discover the root causes of her infertility, painful periods, and more.
There are many ministries in Oklahoma City that provide additional resources to support a woman in choosing life. Please see our Pregnancy Support Page or contact us for more information on how we can help you.
If you are a medical professional who is prolife and practices in accordance with Church teaching and would like to be sponsored for NaProTechnology training, listed here on our website, or be part of our office referrals, please email: RespectLife@archokc.org
Natural Family Planning is also called "Fertility Awareness" and seeks to determine periods of fertility, infertility, and assess possible health complications through charting the woman's natural cycles. NFP is NOT "Catholic Birth Control". NFP allows the couple to always be open to the unitive and procreative aspects of the marital relationship while abstaining during times that perhaps God is not calling them to have a child yet due to serious financial or health issues. NFP encourages couples to dialogue, respect one another, pray and make family decisions together, and to achieve or avoid pregnancy. It can help infertile couples conceive as well.
Single women can and should become familiar with charting their cycles as early in life as possible. Many complications such as painful periods and irregular cycles may have serious underlying causes such as PCOS, endometriosis, and hormone imbalances that could cause infertility or other serious health issues later on in life.
In the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, the following methods are taught:
Billings
Couple to Couple League/Sympto-Thermal
