Communicating the Good News of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith is more important than ever! From social media to live-streaming, accomplishing our mission to “Go Make Disciples” means we need to use all communication channels available to us – and there are many!
Since 1974, the flagship of our communications effort has been the Sooner Catholic newspaper. Archbishop Coakley has asked that every Catholic household in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City have free access to the Sooner Catholic in print or electronically, but your support allows us to bring Catholic news to all those who may not be able to give – older parishioners on fixed incomes, struggling families, the unemployed, prisoners and young people.
During the past year, we have seen how valuable communication and connection are to us, our friends and families, and to the Church in Oklahoma. Your gift helps support many areas of communication that reach thousands of parishioners across the archdiocese and even men and women who have fallen away from their faith.
n The Sooner Catholic newspaper reaches more than 50,000 Catholic homes;
n A dozen social media platforms deliver Catholic news and vital information to thousands of Oklahoma Catholics;
n Oklahoma Catholic Radio has 14 stations across the archdiocese, reaching people in their homes, cars and online with quality Catholic programming and local interviews;
n The archdiocesan website – archokc.org – provides free access to chancery office information, resources, a parish directory, Archbishop Coakley’s column, and much more!
n New communications tools like the Red Dirt Catholics podcast and the Annunciation Studio provide a way for Archbishop Coakley, clergy, parishes, ministries and lay men and women to share their Catholic faith directly and broadly throughout central and western Oklahoma.
We’ve also heard from many people who had left the Church, and now are seeking to return after participating in online prayers and Masses. Others are seeking to join the Church as new Catholics. Archbishop Coakley’s live-streamed Rosary alone reached more than 22,000 people.
All of these evangelization tools rely on yearly “subscriptions” through the Sooner Catholic Communications Appeal. Would you consider a gift of $100 or more to continue these evangelization efforts for years to come? Click here to give now.
As evangelization and education needs have changed during the past 10 years, the archdiocese has worked to reach parishioners and others in the community with new and evolving forms of communication. These tools and your support allow us to serve programs in the archdiocese and in our mission to build a culture of conversion and discipleship.
Thank you for your generosity and for your participation in bringing the love and mercy of Jesus Christ to thousands of Oklahomans.
